In music, as in horse riding, I’m often asked what is tempo?

the word tempo is used so often to seemingly mean so many things, that it is misrepresented, misunderstood, and therefore the riders get very confused as to the difference between tempo, regularity and rhythm.

It’s SPEED, simple as that!  How fast the music is being played, how fast the horse is going, how many times the horse’s hoof hits the floor in a 60 second period, or how many miles per hour the horse is going.

But if you want more information, and a great description on the kind of music, beats per minute, there’s just a GREAT FREE ARTICLE HERE.
